Bringing plant-care sensors into Home Assistant.

The context

The proposed integration connects SmartyPlants soil sensors to Home Assistant. It exposes moisture, temperature, humidity, light, light quality, plant health, and a fertilizing countdown as sensor entities. The contribution is an open pull request, not a released Home Assistant integration.

What I contributed

I authored the integration and its configuration flow, sensor entities, coordinator, and webhook handling. The pull request includes tests for setup, sensor behavior, and webhooks, plus refinements made in response to maintainer review.

Where my work focused

• Polling the SmartyPlants service every minute, with optional signed webhooks delivering additional immediate readings.
• Keeping scheduled polling intact when push updates arrive, and representing unavailable sensors explicitly.
• Handling setup and authentication errors, masking entered credentials, and refining the scope through maintainer review.
• Adding configuration-flow, sensor, setup, and webhook tests, including shared fixtures and snapshots.
